Method Man Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion

Rapper Method Man (known by the the government as Clifford Smith) plead guilty today to tax evasion.

In 2009, the IRS went after him because the 39-year-old failed to file tax returns for 2004 through 2007. He claimed to have forgotten to pay because he was getting real friendly with the chief. Last October, he was arrested.

he was facing up to four years in prison, but with his guilty plea, he was sentenced to a conditional discharge, which means the arrest will be purged from his record if he stays out of trouble.

He has paid about $106,000 to the state to satisfy what he owed in back taxes coupled with interest and penalties.

Here's the criminal complaint.
