School Cancels Classes Due to Nice Weather

We are used to snow days and schools canceling classes because of stormy weather, but on Friday, Oct. 11, students at Calvary Christian School in Columbus, Missouri, will enjoy a day off because of weather is "too beautiful!" It will be a in the low- to mid-80s. In a press release, headmaster Len McWilliams writes: "In the late 1980's, I was calling school off one winter day because of the terrible weather. The thought occurred to me that it would be great to call school off some day because it was too beautiful a day to go to school. I decided that some day before retiring I would do it." BTW: The average high in Columbus is 69 degrees. On that day last year, it was 61 degrees. The record high for Friday is 89 degrees. That was recorded in 1962.
